SALTANS ARCHITECTS_INTL., LTD makes Moscow design competition final shortlist.  SA_I has been selected for the second stage in the international design competition for the Skolkovo Technopark District D2 Residential Area.  From 337 international entries, SA_I represents the only US firm selected for the final shortlist of 30, which is further sub-divided into groups of 4 to 5 teams designing for specific quarters within the Technopark District.  The design project envisions 92,300 square meters of residential apartments serving the prestigious Skolkovo Innovation Centre located outside of Moscow.

Skolkovo Innovation Centre is a strategic initiative endorsed by President Dmitry A. Medvedev to create an innovation hub focused upon diversifying the Russian Federation’s economy and further integrating Russia into the global marketplace of ideas.  With a research University already under construction, the Innovation Centre will promote global innovation in five key areas of focus:  IT, Biomedical, Energy Efficiency, Nuclear Science, and Space Technology.

The overall master plan has been developed by AREP from France, and selected through international competition, whilst the Innovation Centre’s specific districts have detailed master plans prepared by Herzog & de Meuron, OMA with SANAA,  Valode & Pistre, David Chipperfield, and other international design teams.  One of the first completed projects within the complex is David Adjaye’s Moscow School of Management at Skolkovo.

SA_I collaborated with the Shenzhen based office jaeger&partner for the first stage and the second stage design competition which was submitted on February 17, 2012.  The design jury is scheduled to deliberate and select the winning teams in mid-March, 2012.
