Project Description:
Located at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, this facility provides a secure environment, efficient processing and detailed attention for its private and air charter passengers and pilots.  The one and one half story building covers 14,500 square feet and provides passenger lobby and waiting areas, conference rooms, VIP suites, and lounges for private and charter passengers. Private facilities for aircrews requiring a layover are also provided, and secured parking for 110 vehicles is directly adjacent to the facility.

The project was executed under a design/build process, under an extremely aggressive schedule.  The schedule was driven by the planned expansion of new runways at O’Hare International Airport and the design and construction of a new Terminal 6.  The former facility housing Signature Flight Support was located on land to be utilized for this new terminal facility. 

Height limitations mandated by the FAA on the building, due to immediate proximity to runways, limited the building to essentially one floor in height.   A clerestory was introduced in the middle of the building, corresponding with the passenger waiting areas and filling the space with natural daylight.  This zone extends from building entry to passenger exit/entrance onto the airport tarmac, making an unobstructed visual link from the entrance to the airfield.

该设施位于芝加哥奥黑尔国际机场,为私人航空乘客和飞行员提供一个安全舒适的环境,有效率处理过程和细致周到的服务。在拥有14,500平方英尺的,一层和一个夹层的楼里有客运大厅,等候区,会议室,贵宾室,私营和包机旅客休息室等服务用房。同时也提供了一处为临时滞留的机组人员休息的设施。直接相邻的设施可提供全保安停车110辆。 

该项目是根据一个非常紧的设计/建造时间表来执行的。时间表要同奥黑尔国际机场新跑道的扩建计划的和设计建设一个新的六号机楼计划相呼应。之前的机场飞行保障设施正好在将要新建的新机楼的基地上面。

美国联邦航空局对机场建筑物的高度有着严格的限制规定,由于紧邻跑道,建筑的层高不能高于一层。设计在建筑中引入一个天窗,同乘客候机区相对应,将自然光引入室内空间中。这一天窗从建筑主入口一直延伸至乘客到机场停机坪的出/入口,提供给乘客一个到起飞区的通畅的视觉链接
